Hiking
Embark on a thrilling trek to the top of Skiddaw from the trailhead behind The Barn and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding fells and Bassenthwaite Lake. There are endless possibilities for walkers of all ages in The Lake District. If you are not sure which ones to tackle ask us for ideas and maps before you arrive or visit.

Cycling
Whinlatter Forest, directly across Bassenthwaite Lake from The Barn offers trail rides and cycle hire including E-bikes. There are additional shops in Keswick if you'd like to cycle around Derwent Water, from Keswick to Threlkeld on the Railway or ride along the local bike paths and country lanes.

Cruising
There are many ways to get out on the Lakes including cruises on Derwent Water, Coniston Water, Windermere and Ullswater, all of which are a 15-45 minute drive away.
Water Sports

Get your adrenaline pumping with an exciting range of water sports and lake activities, including wild swimming courses, ghyll scrambling, river tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Most pubs are family and dog friendly but it is always advisable to double check regarding appropriate seating and to book in advance especially during peak season.
